Teen Yoga – Teen yoga is available for young adults ages 12-17 and is 60 minutes long. It is an active Hatha practice that teaches principles of foundation and alignment as well as breath and flow of poses. Teen yoga is great for people who are looking for active movement and to unite body, mind and breath.
Hatha Yoga – Hatha yoga classes are available for adults and can be 60-75 minutes in length. Classes are dynamic and active and based in both the Anusara and Iyengar traditions. They are perfect for beginners who would like to begin a journey of awareness and introspection. Hatha classes begin by tuning in, and continue with breathwork and warming up the spine. Classes focus on finding alignment while holding asana (yoga postures), breath awareness, foundational anchoring, and directional spiraling of limbs. Hatha yoga can help practitioners find an alliance of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves as well as assist in finding a grounding centering calm.
Hatha Flow/Vinyasa – Hatha Flow classes are great for the adult yogi or yogini who are intermediate or advanced practitioners who are looking for an incredible meditative flowing experience. Classes build heat in the body and are based on a 75 minutes long Vinyasa style of yoga. Hatha Flow classes begin with tuning in and breathwork and continue with a series of Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) to begin warming up the body. Various postures are then integrated and explored, linking together breath and movement.
Kundalini Yoga – Kundalini yoga classes are 75 minutes in length and are based on the teachings of Yogi Bhajan who brought Kundalini Yoga to the west. Kundalini classes are a meditative practice steeped in a tradition that creates incredible experiences of transformation. Kundalini yoga is called the yoga of awareness because it works directly on the bodies’ endocrine and nervous systems and creates an immediate sense of well being in the moment. Kundalini rising describes the process of distributing energy throughout the body and increasing the electromagnetic field around the body. It involves doing meditations and kriyas (specific exercises, moving in and out of postures with breath). Classes also include mantra(singing or chanting sounds that can help stimulate the pituitary, pineal and hypothalamus glands).
Prenatal Yoga - 75 minute Prenatal Yoga classes help pregnant women explore their intuitive wisdom that understands about the very natural process of birth. Moms can connect with this wisdom, being guided through a class specifically designed for the journey of pregnancy. Postures are linked with the breath and will lead you to new discoveries, bringing awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. Classes are conducted in a calm, peaceful environment and will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort during pregnancy. Prenatal yoga can also sometimes help alleviate many of the discomforts most women experience during pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing.
Postnatal Yoga-75 minute Postnatal yoga classes are ideal for new mothers and their babies and babies (4 weeks to crawling). Classes focus on strengthening the spiritual, emotional and physical bond between parent and child while helping new mothers regain strength and energy that may have been lost during pregnancy. Classes specifically focus on rebuilding strength for new mommies in the abdomen, back and pelvic muscles, releasing tension in the shoulders and neck and opening the chest. Classes also can provide a support system to address common issues and concerns that may arise in this new chapter of life. Using interactive, slow-moving postures the post-natal class also includes infant massage and various exercises that assist the development of your child’s motor skills. Post-natal yoga will help carry you smoothly through the busy early months of caring for a new baby.
